Restoration Guidelines
The guidelines contained in this section of the website are designed to assist restorers with the restoration of their cars to TRA's Concours standards. These guidelines are a supplement of sorts, to the Concours Standards and as such, the Standards are the final authority on any conflict that may arise herein. To that end, the following delineates the nature of the guidance given in this section, as follows:
- TRA does not imply or warrant that the material within is absolutely certain and fully accurate.
- It is assumed that the restorer has the skill and knowledge to implement any guidelines contained in this document.
- This document is not a "how to" repair/refurbish workshop manual. There are many fine books available on the subject.
- Following the contents of this guideline, in and of itself, does not ensure higher scoring in TRA Concours competition.
- Do not rely exclusively on this document for originality guidance. Also refer to the many fine books published on this topic.
- It is assumed that the restorer is fully knowledgeable of the Standards outlined in the Concours 'd Elegance section of this website, therefore there will not generally be repetition of material previous addressed.
Organization
The restoration guidelines are organized as follows:
- Guidelines are individually established for each series of Triumphs as listed below:
- TR2-TR3
- Pre 60K TR3A
- Post 60K TR3A & TR3B
- TR4-TR4A
- Within each series, the guidelines are presented in a manner that makes best use of the illustrations and photographs, not in the order outlined in the concours sections.
- In addition to the guidelines, there is a wealth of reference material contained in the appendix of the Standards.
Please Note!! Currently only the Post 60K TR3As and TR3Bs are available at this time. If you are able to help produce any of the remaining categories, please e-mail the Webmaster at:
